David’s Threads

Cast Bronze & Aluminum: 7.5 in. x 4.5in. x 3.5in.

A classic taken and “tooled” as a contemporary reference to the wisdom of King Solomon: “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”  Ecclesiastes 1:9

Social constructs, philosophies, dogmas, etc. cycle like the hem lines of fashion only with less frequency.  Marx understood some of this cyclical nature when he wrote “All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses, his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.”

This sculpture does not pretend to offer new revelations on these weighty topics but to visually and physically explore them in a contemporary vernacular.
